Hello, welcome :)
This website stores some of the thoughts I've jotted down over time. On occasion these notes encompass enough material to merit a proper write up, and those are what land here. These are mostly related to my work as a designer and some particular interests of mine.
My job is to design software. In particular, I care quite a bit about information design and the deliberate, thoughtful use of data visualization. In my experience I've seen just how easy it is to make complex and frustrating software products, so I tend to err on the side of simplicity and minimalism.
Outside of my work, I am fascinated by machines which bring physical, tangible products to life. I discovered this world by accident, starting from an appreciation for the simple and utilitarian design language within technical drawings in old patents. This led me to explore CAD, CAM, and computer numerical control (CNC) machines such as pen plotters, 3D printers, and milling machines. Each time I use or build a new machine, I learn something new about the messy translation between a computer simulation and a real-world product.

## a few highlights
During the pandemic lockdown, I decided to brush up on my d3. So I got my hands on some data and made some pretty charts. Among other forays, I tried to figure out [[miami to mumbai|if my city was safe or dangerous]], I wanted to [[colegialidad|visually capture gentrification]], and [[quarantexting|I spent way too much time sending messages]].
